Elevated Emotions: How Sky Views Shape Urban Perception

This project examines Manhattan’s street-level sky view ratios using the Grasshopper, revealing notable differences across neighborhoods. Areas like Lower Manhattan’s Lower East exhibit expansive sky views, while places such as the Financial District and Soho have more restricted views. The analysis extends to public perceptions. Specificly, This project gathers 20,000 Google Street View images in Manhatta, and trains meachine learning model on crowsourced datasets, Place Pulse 2.0 to examine human perception and then explore the relationship between human perception and experience with sky view ratio and other urban elements.
